Poster board, artboard, tissue squares, corrugated plastic and canvas panels — every flat surface a project can start on. There are 6 Creatology kids craft supplies on this shelf.
Every project needs a surface, and the surface decides what the project can be. Poster board takes marker and glue without buckling and is the default for school displays. Artboard is heavier and sits somewhere between paper and canvas, which makes it right for paint that would soak through a sheet of drawing paper.
Tissue squares come by the thousand for mosaic work and layering, and the corrugated plastic board survives rain, which is why it ends up at bake sales and garage sales rather than on a fridge door.

Match the surface to the wet media. Poster board takes marker, glue and a light wash without cockling, artboard carries paint that would soak straight through drawing paper, and canvas panels are for the project meant to be kept. Tissue squares are not a surface at all — they are color you layer onto one, which is why they arrive by the thousand.
For a classroom the useful question is how many children will draw on it at once. Large sheets cut down into small ones, so buying big and trimming is cheaper than a pack of small boards, and the offcuts become name tags. Corrugated plastic is the outdoor option: it survives rain, which paper and foam do not. Store flat supplies upright in one slot so the corners stay square.

Bendy stems, pom poms, craft fluff and wiggle eyes — the soft handful that turns a flat sheet of paper into a creature with a personality.
Sheets, shapes, adhesive backs and glitter finishes. Foam cuts with blunt scissors, never frays and forgives a wobbly line.
Felt sheets by the ream, glitter felt, pre-cut leaves, looper bags and the loom that turns them into a potholder.
